BEIJING, Apr 25, 2011 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Estimates suggest China will double
th e number of general aircraft to 2,031 by 2015 to meet demand from the
forestry, petroleum and marine industries, said the China General Avia tion
Association (CCAA) in a report released on Friday.
As of end of 2010, China has some 1,000 general aircraft, including 166
helicopters and 403 training aircraft.
The country is forecast to add 1,125 general aircraft by the end of 2015, including 71 helicopters and 518 training aircraft.
This estimate does not include business aircraft and civil aircraft . If these markets are factored in, the number of China's general airc raft is expected to reach 20,000 by 2020, some 20 times the current nu mber, according to industry experts.
Meanwhile, China is to promote the creation of fixed bases of opera tions (FBO) and flight service stations (FSS) to accommodate the fast growth of general aviation.
The CCAA's report proposes piloting FBO and FSS in Shanghai, Northe ast China's Shenyang city, Southwest China's Chengdu city, and Guangdo ng city in South China.(Edited by Wu Xiaobo, wuxb@xinhua.org)
