Electric Plane Made in China

China's first electric plane has successfully conducted the test flight.

It could be seen as anther indication, that the energy-consuming giant has been making substantial effort in environmental protection.

The two-seater light plane took off Thursday in northeast China’s Shenyang city, a traditional aviation industrial center.

Researchers say the new creation produces fresh momentum, for China’s research and development on general aviation manned aircraft.

The project is jointly conducted by Shenyang Aerospace University (SAU) and Beihang University, formerly called Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Several other research institutions participated in the project.

"We have spent one year on the development of China’s first electric two-seater light aircraft. It follows the trend (of clean energy using)in the world."

The plane is featured with clean energy source of Lithium batteries, and an airframe of full carbon fiber composite material.

Compared with traditional oil energy aircraft, the new electric plane boasts low production and operation cost, without decrease in safety.

It could be used in sectors including industry, agriculture, education and entertainment.
